چکیده

T cells. This process arrests the local infection for most immunocompetent hosts. At that time, the only sign of the disease may be a positive reaction to the purified protein derivative (PPD) skin test. A delayed hypersensitivity response uses cytotoxic killer CD8 suppressor T cells to kill the other nonactivated macrophages with bacilli. This process creates local tissue destruction and the formation of a caseating granuloma. In immunocompromised patients, this caseous center may expand and then calcify to form a Ghon complex in the lung. If the infection is uncontrolled, primary tuberculous pneumonia may ensue, or infection may spread through blood and lymph, with resulting disseminated TB. Active TB develops months to years later in those patients with decreased capacity for cell-mediated immunity, such as patients with malnutrition, comorbidities, and immunosuppression. Patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome are especially prone to develop active disease. As the caseating granuloma liquefies and releases numerous bacilli, a delayed hypersensitivity response is initiated, and local tissue destruction follows. Ultimately, erosion through a bronchial wall creates a cavitary lesion and the development of pneumonia. The high oxygen tension of the cavity lends itself to replication of bacilli and persistent disease.

A novel multi-parameter scoring system for distinguishing sarcoidosis from sputum negative tuberculosis.

BACKGROUND Sarcoidosis is a granulomatous disorder of unknown cause, affecting multiple organs. Tuberculosis is the world's second most common cause of death from infectious diseases. Due to the similar clinical, radiological and histopathological pictures in sarcoidosis and tuberculosis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis has been considered as potential infectious factor. However, it remains difficul...

Specificity of IS6110-based DNA fingerprinting and diagnostic techniques for Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex.

Restriction fragment length polymorphism and hybridization of DNA extracted from Mycobacterium tuberculosis, nontuberculous mycobacteria, and nonmycobacterial species with a probe derived from IS6110 confirmed that IS6110 was specific to M. tuberculosis complex. In addition, DNA amplification with IS6110-specific primers yielded a 181-bp fragment only in DNA from M. tuberculosis complex isolates.

Substituted N-benzylpyrazine-2-carboxamides: synthesis and biological evaluation.

A series of twelve amides was synthesized via aminolysis of substituted pyrazinecarboxylic acid chlorides with substituted benzylamines. Compounds were characterized with analytical data and assayed in vitro for their antimycobacterial, antifungal, antibacterial and photosynthesis-inhibiting activity. 5-tert-Butyl-6-chloro-N-(4-methoxybenzyl)pyrazine-2-carboxamide (12) has shown the highest ant...

IS6110 homologs are present in multiple copies in mycobacteria other than tuberculosis-causing mycobacteria.

We have previously demonstrated homology between a 181-bp fragment of IS6110 and DNA from mycobacteria other than tuberculosis-causing mycobacteria (MOTT). Genomic DNA from 14 strains of MOTT was digested with PvuII and was hybridized with a probe derived from the 181-bp fragment and the INS1/INS2 international standard probe at high stringency. Multiple banding patterns were obtained from isol...

گزارش 1 مورد نادر سل دهانه رحم و ولوو در بیمارستان حضرت زینب(س) مشهد

Tuberculosis of vulva is a rare form of genital tuberculosis. It may be presented as isolated chronic ulcerative lesions in the external genital without the tuberculosis of the upper urogenital system, thus the diagnosis of this type of tuberculosis may be delayed. The present case is a tuberculosis of vulva in a 73-year-old woman with chronic external genital ulcers whose treatme...
